Recruitment - Terms and Conditions
Hours of Work
Your hours of work will be detailed in your contract of employment. If the contract is on an as and when basis, this means when you will be asked to work will vary according to the needs of the service. The Company is under no obligation to provide you with work and you are under no obligation to accept any work which is offered.
Annual Leave
Leave entitlement for a full time contract (37 hours per week) is 176 hours per annum. This is calculated on a pro rata basis if you have a part time contract. If you have an as and when contract and it lasts longer than 3 months, you will be entitled to an hourly premium in lieu of paid annual leave in accordance with the Working Time Directive. This will be backdated to the first of the month following commencement of employment.
Medical Assessments
Your engagement will be subject to satisfactory medical assessment. An examination will only be necessary if deemed advisable by Slough Community Leisure’s Medical Adviser. Certain key members of staff are medically examined periodically at the company's expense.
Disclosure
SCL aims to promote equality of opportunity for all with the right mix of talent, skills and potential. SCL welcomes applications from diverse candidates. Criminal records will be taken into account for recruitment purposes only when the conviction is relevant. Unless the nature of the work demands it, you will not be asked to disclose convictions which are ‘spent' under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Having an ‘unspent' conviction will not necessarily bar you from employment. This will depend on the circumstances and background of your offence(s).
As SCL meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all applicants who are offered employment will be subject to a criminal record check from the Criminal Records Bureau before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands or final warnings, as well as convictions.
